YOUTH LEADERSHIP CORPS
PROGRAM
Individual applications for merit-based scholarships for the Youth Leadership
Corps program can be submitted as follows:
- Students in the state of Maryland should submit completed application forms along with the required admission fee and letters of recommendation to the Baltimore Chesapeake Bay Outward Bound program. Please clearly mark the envelope with “YOUTH LEADERSHIP
CORPS APPLICATION.”
- Students in the greater Philadelphia area (Bucks, Montgomery, Chester, Delaware and Philadelphia counties of PA, Northern Delaware, and Southern NJ) should submit completed application forms along with the required admission fee and letters of recommendation to the Philadelphia Outward Bound program. Please clearly mark the envelope with “YOUTH LEADERSHIP
CORPS APPLICATION.”
- If you are a student from communities west of Newark, NJ
or from a community in Fairfield County, Connecticut, you
can apply for a Youth Leadership Corps expedition run by
Outward Bound alumni in these regions. For additional
information about Northern New Jersey, contact Mike Stanley,

and for Connecticut, contact Lisa Mattis (lmattis@outwardbound.org).
School and community organizations are encouraged to partner with Outward Bound in the identification and selection of qualified candidates for this program. For additional information, contact Outward Bound.
PEER LEADERSHIP EXPEDITION PROGRAM
Middle and high schools throughout the state of Maryland are encouraged to contact Baltimore Chesapeake Bay Outward Bound to determine eligibility for these subsidized five and seven-day wilderness expedition programs offered to small groups of students during the school year. These programs meet desired educational outcomes of the partner schools. Private and parochial schools are encouraged to contact us for additional information on courses available to their students. Public middle and high schools throughout the city of Philadelphia are encouraged to contact Philadelphia Outward Bound to determine eligibility for state and locally subsidized five and seven-day wilderness and urban expedition programs offered to small groups of students during the school year. These programs are endorsed by the School District of Philadelphia as extensions of the District’s physical education curriculum. Private and parochial schools are encouraged to contact us for additional information on courses available to their students. EDUCATORS’ EXPEDITIONS
Outward Bound Educators’ Expeditions develop experiential education skills that teachers and administrators can take back into their schools and classrooms. Scholarships are available to qualified educators from the state of Maryland and the greater Philadelphia region.
This summer we are holding a Wilderness Canoe Expedition
August 6-12, 2006. Space is limited. Application deadline is
June 1, 2006. Pennsylvania educators receive ACT 48
CEU's for this program.
Wilderness Canoeing: Canoe and learn paddle strokes,
river reading, and rescue techniques while exploring brilliant
scenery and an array of wildlife. You will travel
through the historic upper Potomac River and see a historic
lock system for small wooden canal boats used to ship goods up
and down the river. Deer will emerge from the banks,
muskrats will scramble over logs, and bald eagles will soar
overhead. Steep cliffs and winding bends round out this
rich and historical section of river.
